News and notifications
The News page (route /news) is the top-level news feed from Agilicus, and the bell icon in the top bar delivers your organisation’s in-portal notifications. Together they are how Agilicus and your administrators keep you informed: the feed for product news and security commentary, the inbox for messages addressed to you in the portal.

Purpose
The News screen shows the latest articles from the Agilicus blog and newsroom as a set of cards, each with a title, publication date, image, and summary. Selecting a card opens the full article on agilicus.com in a new tab. The bell icon at the top right of every page shows the number of unread notifications addressed to you and opens a small inbox where you can read, mark, or dismiss messages.
Why use it
- Keep up with security guidance, product announcements, and zero trust topics from Agilicus without leaving the portal.
- Share an article with your team directly from the feed using the Twitter/X, Reddit, or LinkedIn buttons.
- See at a glance whether anything needs your attention: the bell badge counts unread messages.
- Read support or system messages that administrators send through the portal’s message inbox.
When to use it
- When you sign in and want a quick briefing on recent Agilicus news.
- When a badge appears on the bell and you want to clear unread messages.
- When you need to share a relevant article with colleagues or on social media.
Prerequisite: a signed-in session. The News feed is available to everyone. The notification inbox requires message permissions; without them the bell is shown disabled and the inbox is not available.
How to use it
Reading the news feed
- Select News in the left navigation. The feed loads as a grid of article cards.
- Select a card title or image to open the full article on agilicus.com in a new tab (the link carries
?utm_source=portalso Agilicus can see the visit came from the portal). - To share an article, use the social buttons at the bottom of its card: Twitter/X, Reddit, or LinkedIn each open a share dialog for that network with the article link and title pre-filled.

The feed is refreshed each time you visit the page; it pulls the latest published items directly from the Agilicus feed.
Using notifications
The bell icon sits in the top bar on every page, next to the account button.
- The number on the bell badge is the count of unread messages in your inbox. In the screenshot above the count is 0, meaning the inbox is empty.
- Select the bell to open the notifications menu.
- If you have not subscribed to browser push notifications, select Subscribe to Push Notifications to receive new messages even when you are not looking at the portal. The button reflects your subscription state; once subscribed it is disabled with a tooltip confirming your status.
- Each message shows its title, a short preview, and how long ago it arrived. Unread messages are bold; read ones are not.

- Select a message to see its actions: Open (opens the full message), Mark As Read or Mark As Unread, and Dismiss. Opening a support-related message may take you to the relevant page instead of a dialog.
- Use the more-options menu at the top right of the panel to act on the whole inbox: Mark All As Read, Mark All As Unread, or Dismiss All.
- When the inbox is empty the panel shows No notifications to display.

Dialogs and popups
- Notifications menu: the bell opens the inbox panel described above.
- Message dialog: choosing Open on a message opens the full message, including any rich content, in a dialog.
- Share dialogs: the social buttons on news cards open the sharing page for Twitter/X, Reddit, or LinkedIn in a new tab.
Configuration versus diagnostics versus confirmation
- Configuration: subscribing to push notifications is the only setting on these screens; it is per browser. Read and read/unread state and dismissal are persistent per message.
- Diagnostics: none. The news feed is informational content, not a diagnostic view.
- Confirmation: dismissing a message or choosing Dismiss All removes it from the inbox. The actions are immediate and are not reversible from the portal, so dismiss only messages you no longer need.
Pagination and async behaviour
- The news feed has no pagination; it shows all currently published items (15 at the time of writing).
- The feed loads asynchronously when the page opens.
- The unread count is polled, so the badge updates automatically while you stay on a page; a new message can change the count without a refresh.
Troubleshooting
- The badge does not update: the count polls periodically. Wait up to 30 seconds or reload the page.
- The bell is disabled: your account lacks message permissions. Ask an owner or administrator to grant them.
- You no longer receive push notifications: the subscription is tied to this browser. Reopen the notifications menu and select Subscribe to Push Notifications; if your browser has blocked notifications, allow them in the browser settings and subscribe again.
- A news card will not open: the article link points to agilicus.com and opens in a new tab; check that your browser is not blocking pop-ups.
- An article is missing from the feed: the feed reflects the latest published items; reload the page or check the Agilicus blog directly.
