Anyone can signup to use the Agilicus AnyX system. During the signup you will see several key concepts:

  1. Organisation.
  2. “Sign In With’ initial account setup / sign-in
  3. Domain name selection
Organisation

The Agilicus AnyX organisation (org) concept is similar to a ‘tenant’ or ‘project’ in other cloud-based systems. It encompasses a set of users and resources for your company.

Typically the name is the legal name of your company (Foobar Incorporated). This name will only show up on your invoices, and, for yourself in reports.

Later we will find a related concept, a ‘sub-org’, in which an org contains other orgs. This could be used for customers of yours, or, for departments in your company.

Sign in With

A key concept in Agilicus AnyX is ‘Authentication’, and, specifically, Single-Sign-On with an external account. The default configuration allows you to ‘Sign in With” a Microsoft account, or a Google account. Later you can enable other methods.

You can use a Google account if you have a gmail or Google Workspace account.

You can use a Microsoft account if you have an Office 365 account, an outlook.com account, a microsoft Live account.

When you choose to sign in with your Microsoft or Google account there is no permissions granted to Agilicus AnyX. Your password and permissions remain in Microsoft or Google. Examine the URL in your browser: the pages with user and password information always use a Microsoft or Google domain.

The user you do the initial sign in with will become the initial administrator. We can later add more users with different roles.

Domain Name Selection

During the initial signup process you have an option to use your own domain name, or, an Agilicus supplied one. This is an important question since it cannot be changed later.

The domain name will be used in all aspects of Agilicus AnyX. You will see it:

  • On your admin UI (https://admin.__MYDOMAIN__)
  • On your end-user profile UI (https://profile.__MYDOMAIN__)
  • For each of your web-applications (https://myapp.__MYDOMAIN__)
  • For each of your shares, ssh, desktops, the domain is used as part of a certificate-signing security scheme

To use your own domain, you will assign a wildcard CNAME alias. We will cover this in another module.
